Children work with their hands in gardening and habitat restoration materials that complement the Botany curriculum that provide first-hand understanding of native plant habitats, and the cycles of nature through outdoor experiences.

In early Spring 2017, several early childhood development research reports indicate that children prefer tangible real-based activities vs. pretend-based play with toys when given choices to participate between the ages of 3-4, and remains consistent through age of 6. At NIMS, we want to provide our children with self-efficacy and sense of accomplishments from contributions as young citizens of their communities.
